Static Preservation
Not all preservation solutions are created equal.
Our static preservation solutions are specially formulated to provide a safe and consistent hypothermic environment for cold ischemic storage and transport of donor organs.

Waters IGL® Cold Storage Solution
Cold storage solution for kidney, liver, and pancreas
Waters IGL® Cold Storage Solution is a clear to light yellow, sterile, non-pyrogenic solution intended for the flushing and cold storage of kidney, liver, and pancreas organs at the time of organ removal from the donor in preparation for storage, transportation, and eventual transplantation into a recipient. The solution has an approximate calculated osmolarity of 320 mOsm, a sodium concentration of 29 mEq/l, a potassium concentration of 125 mEq/l, and a pH of approximately 7.4 at 20°C (68°F).
Waters IGL® Cold Storage Solution is not intended for use in continuous machine perfusion. Administration of the solution at the recommended temperature cools the organ and lowers its metabolism.

Celsior®
Cold storage solution for heart
Celsior® is a clear to slightly yellow, sterile, non pyrogenic solution for hypothermic flushing and storage of hearts. The solution is slightly acidic (approximately pH 7.3 at 20°C/68°F, slightly hypertonic (approximate calculated osmolarity 320-360 mOsmol/L) with low viscosity (1.15 cSt), and has a high buffering capacity (acidic approximately 11 mmol, alkaline approximately 7 mmol).
Celsior® can be used for hypothermic cardiac flushing and storage in preparation for transportation and eventual transplantation of the heart into the recipient.
In the US, the use of Celsior® for preservation of organs, other than hearts, has not been approved by the FDA.
